My creative process

from the sketch to the final illustration

1. Rough sketches

At the beginning I explore composition, volume placement : everything is really simplified, the function of this kind of sketch is to gather ideas.

I will sublit up to 3 sketches among which to choose the final one. If you like something from skatch one but you prefer the composition from sketch two, I can mix these two to better adapt to your vision.

I will then submit it to you just to you to confirm this is the final sketch and then I will pass to step 2.

2. Refined sketch

Step 2 is the creation of a refined sketch, that I will use to draw the digital illustration.

In this step, I will ink and colour with digital tools only (unless differently specified at the brief stage, before my quote preparation).

3. Lineart (+ color and shades, if asked)

At step 3, I will create the lineart and I will colour the illustration. You have many parameters that can play a role in the stle to give to your illustration :

Lineart :
  • colour : black or in another colour? this choice is up to you : maybe you want to use the colours of your brand. Just tell me, we will discuss about it
  • thickness : do you want a homogenous thiskness or a variable one?
  • texture : do you want to youse a “ink-like” brush or a textured one? this must be discussed at the beginning of our brief.
Colour :
  • you can choose to have it or not
  • do you want a watercolor-like colorization?
  • maybe you prefer traditional art?
Shades :
  • hard or soft?
