WHO IS THE DRAWING SCIENTIST ?

Veronica La Padula The Drawing Scientist freelance scientific illustrator educational and communication

Veronica La Padula, PhD

Hi, my name is Veronica La Padula and I am the artist behind The Drawing Scientist.

Since my youngest age I have been interested by nature, drawing it and taking notes about it.

After humanistic studies in high school (I love ancient languages and litterature), I followed a scientific path, studying Medico-Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies and then earning a PhD in Neuroscience.
Passionate of macrophotography, I had the chance to become an expert in optical and transmission electron microscopy, watching Nature in its finest details.

my vision

As a scientist and illustrator, my vision is to bridge the gap between complex scientific concepts and the general public. I aim to create engaging, accessible visualizations that inspire curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of the natural world.

my mission

My mission is to use my skills in both science and art to communicate important scientific findings in a way that is clear, compelling, and beautiful. I strive to make science more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

my approach

My approach combines rigorous scientific research with creative illustration techniques. I believe that accuracy and aesthetics are not mutually exclusive, and I work to ensure that every piece I create is both informative and visually stunning.

Some facts about me

I am a cat person. I love the quiet eyes of cats, their curiosity and their acute observation skills, their agility and adventure spirit. Not to talk about their adorable ron-ron…

I take pictures of everything I find interesting, especially if they are little and difficult to see at the naked eye. You can spot me in strange positions to have the best shot of an insect or a flower (or both).

« Too many books? Perhaps what you mean is not enough bookshelves. » I ignore who the author of this sentence is, but yes. I love reading, especially, scifi novels, classics, and nature guides.
